Chaney's Christmas Sugar Cookies

Lindsey McAllister

Wet

1 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Dry

3 1/2 c flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Cream room temperature butter with sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

Sift dry ingredients and add gradually to the wet mixture. i use a mixer until it gets too thick, then move on to the good ole wooden spoon! This is key in the making of delicious baking memories.  Chill 3-4 hours.

Then, dust your surface with flour, and dust your rolling pin (tee hee). Roll into 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick Dust cookie cutters as well. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes until slightly golden brown.

Frosting

My mom uses powdered sugar and milk to make lighter frosting. It needs no measurements, just not too thin. But I've been making them the last few years with your mom's butter cream frosting (show on this site as THE Frosting) I like that it's both of them.
